Michael Vaughn is a violinist, educator, and concertmaster with more than 35 years of performance and teaching experience. He currently serves as Concertmaster of the Columbia Orchestra and as Concertmaster and featured soloist with Bach in Baltimore. An active performer throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, he has performed frequently with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Choral Arts, and Toby’s Dinner Theater.

Michael earned both a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance and a Master of Arts for Teachers degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He studied violin with Paul Biss and violin and pedagogy with Mimi Zweig, one of the nation’s leading experts in string teaching.

In addition to his musical career, Michael serves as an AI Architect at Yale University, where he has helped lead the development of Yale’s AI Platform Services program and enterprise AI initiatives. Having built successful careers in both music and technology, he believes that music education develops skills that extend far beyond the practice room. The focus, discipline, creativity, and resilience cultivated through music study can benefit students whether they pursue careers in the arts, sciences, technology, business, or any other field.

As a teacher, Michael combines a strong technical foundation with an encouraging and individualized approach. Drawing on decades of experience as both a performer and educator, he helps students develop healthy technique, effective practice habits, musical confidence, and artistic expression.
